Diamond Island Retreat is our immaculately presented, self contained holiday home. It is located on the north side of the picturesque seaside township of Bicheno, (pronounced Bish-a-no) on the East Coast of Tasmania.
Sleeping up to 5 adults, the Retreat boasts stunning views of Diamond Island, then from the Bicheno township, north to Scamander almost 60km away and glorious coastline nearly all the way.
A short stroll of approximately 200mts across open grazing pasture, through two gates & past the penguin burrows will find you on pristine, fine white sand like you have rarely experienced. Take the opportunity at low tide to venture across the sand bar to Diamond Island, a protected sanctuary for the Fairy penguins. Swim the crystal clear water, surf Redbill beach, explore the rock pools or just soak up the warm sunshine; this feels very much like a private beach. Perhaps you’d prefer to relax on the ample deck at ‘The Retreat’ with a glass of chilled Tasmanian wine.
If you’re lucky you may spot dolphins frolicking in the sheltered waters of Diamond Island or perhaps even whales boistrously enjoying the warmer water on their migration down the East Coast of Tasmania in late spring and early summer.
With a virtual waterfront location, accommodation at the Retreat consists of two bedrooms with 1 queen size bed, 1 single bed and 2 single bunk beds. All linen, doonas, blankets, pillows and towels are provided.
A comfortable leather lounge suite, large flat screen LCD TV, CD and DVD player ensure you have all you need, as far as indoor entertainment goes, for a restful vacation in this captivating spot. You can choose to do as much or as little as you want.
A reverse cycle air conditioner provides both heating and cooling and the kitchen is fully equipped with a refrigerator, stove, microwave oven and all cooking utensils. The laundry has a washing machine and dryer. A safe bicycle track links the Retreat with the Bicheno township, perfect for a brisk or leisurely stroll to build up a healthy appetite.
Cook for yourself at the Retreat, either indoors or on the outdoor gas BBQ. Alternatively, venture into the township for a counter meal or enjoy some local seasonal delicacies at Pasinis.
If you don’t fancy driving, one of the best restaurants on the East Coast is 5 minutes walk away! ‘Facets’ restaurant at the Diamond Island Resort specialises in Tasmanian produce from seafood to cheese and wines. It’s Tasmania’s cuisine at its very best.
